Primal Fear

Just when you think that all of Richard Gere's films are kinda crap, along comes Primal Fear, which isn't bad at all, really. Gere plays paparazzi-loving Chicago lawyer Martin Vail, who takes the unusual case of soft-spoken altar boy Aaron Stampler (Edward Norton), who has been accused murdering a priest. However, as the case moves to trial, Vail discovers that Norton has a split personality, one timid, the other bloodthirsty. Television veteran Gregory Hoblit smoothly directs Primal Fear through its many twists and turns, and the supporting cast (including Laura Linney, Frances McDormand, John Mahoney, Alfre Woodward, Andre Braugher, and Maura Tierney) all turn in solid performances. Good transfer and 5.1, trailer.
