The Exorcist: 25th Anniversary Edition

A young girl (Linda Blair) appears to be possessed by demons, and when modern psychology and medicine fail to heal her, her distraught mother (Ellen Burstyn) asks the Catholic Church to perform the archaic rite of exorcism. This 1973 shocker, directed by William Friedkin and based on the novel by William Peter Blatty, had audiences lined up around the block when it was first released. The new 25th Anniversary Edition DVD from Warner brothers features a great transfer from a good source print, an 80-minute BBC documentary on the making of the film, commentary tracks with Friedkin and Blatty, interview clips with Friedkin and Blatty, numerous trailers and TV spots, and textual supplements. Film on one side of the disc, supplementary material on the flip-side.
