Blood of the Vampires

A competent but hardly engrossing Filipino vampire picture, Blood of the Vampires examines the family hardships that arise when mom acquires a taste for her offspring's blood. Director Eddie Romero creates some moments of low-budget beauty and a decent gothic atmosphere, but, as vampire films go, he fails to innovate or fashion any memorable moments. Part of Image Entertainment's "Blood Series," Blood of the Vampires is presented full-frame with monaural audio. Hemisphere Pictures producer Sam Sherman offers a short commentary focusing mainly on the history of his company. Also included are an interview with director Romero, a long and annoying promo for "House of Terror," a still gallery, and trailers for this film and several B-movies, including Mad Doctor of Blood Island, Brides of Blood, Beast of Blood, Brain of Blood, The Blood Drinkers, Raiders of the Living Dead and Horror of the Blood Monsters. Keep-case.
